Ingredients

  • 1 lb 450g ground bison meat
  • 1/4 cup 30g breadcrumbs (optional for binding, omit for gluten-free or keto)
  • 1 large egg, optional for binding
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, optional for extra flavor
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for cooking)
  • 4 burger buns or lettuce wraps for low-carb/keto options
  • Cheese slices optional (Cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)

Topping Suggestions

  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Onion slices
  • Avocado
  • Ketchup mustard, or mayo

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill or stovetop to medium-high heat.
  • Mix the ground bison with seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder) in a bowl.
  • Shape the meat into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Bison is lean, so avoid pressing them too hard.
  • Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Bison cooks faster than beef, so keep an eye on the temperature.
  • Add cheese (optional) during the last minute of cooking to melt it over the patties.
  • Toast the buns lightly on the grill or stovetop.
  • Assemble the burger with your preferred toppings and sauces.
